Revolve is the beginning of Hasan Zaidi’s journey into furniture design. The shape is based on three precise programming moves and dimensioned around common lounge chair depths and angles. Gloss red, powder-coated 18-gauge sheetmetal, Revolve balances the dynamic nature of sculpture and the functional nature of furniture.
The Bauhaus Chair is made from varying sizes of round bars. This chair meshes a consistent motif with distinct design features. Made of mild steel and powder-coated with a slate gray textured finish, upholstered with a outdoor durable fabric, this piece evokes an industrial aesthetic.
L One-Five, inspired by the human vertebrae, brings instant comfort to anyone who sits on it. The enhanced lumbar support comforts the user and provides real relief. This piece is made from hot-rolled 18-gauge steel, round bar, and powder-coated with a dark blue textured finished.
Hemisoidal is a chaise lounge inspired by the ellipse and ellipsoid form. Made from CNC padauk pads and fastened by brass pins to a hot-rolled, steel square tube frame.
Bending Moment is a steam-bent chair made from numerous layers of ash and capped off with mahogany. The chair consists of two ribbon-like forms resting on each other, creating a moment of tension. This chair was funded by the University of Connecticut’s Undergrad Research Supply Grant.
